Pinehurst No. 4 was originally designed in 1919 by Donald Ross and has since underwent many renovations, most recently by Gil Hanse in 2018. Major tournaments that the course has hosted were the 2008 and 2019 U.S. Amateur. In total Pinehurst has 12 courses including a nine hole and putting course called The Cradle and Thistle Dhu respectively.
Course No. 4 has pretty narrow fairways and a plethora of sand traps that have been designed to be looking naturally occurring with the landscape of North Carolina. Water hazards come into play on the par 5 13th hole and par 3 14th hole.
Tee times are available to the public, but only for courses 1, 3, 5 or The Cradle. Otherwise you must be a member or be a resort guest to play on course 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 or 9. You can expect to pay anywhere between $300 and $600 for a round at Pinehurst.
