Many consider the Old Course at St Andrews to be the “home of golf” because the sport originated on the land where the course currently is. The course has hosted The Open Championship, Women’s British Open and Senior Open Championship over the years.
All of the courses on the St Andrews links are public courses and available to have tee times reserved. There are currently seven public courses: the Eden, Jubilee, Strathtyrum, Balgrove, New and Old Course.
The official course record was set by Ross Fisher, an English professional golfer, in 2017. He carded a 61.
There are many historical buildings surrounding the course including golf shops, hotels, clubhouses and a golf museum.
