Payne’s Valley Golf Course
Par: 72
Length: 7,370 yards
Rating/Slope: 75.6/132
Designed by Tiger Woods’ TGR Design group, Payne’s Valley is a 100% public golf course anyone can book tee times for. The course was named after Missouri native Payne Stewart, who won 11 PGA Tour Events including three major champions before his tragic and sudden death in an airplane accident in 1999 at the age of 42.
The course has amazing views of the landscape of Missouri and is nearby other great courses including Buffalo Ridge Springs, a Tom Fazio designed course and Top of the Rock, designed by Jack Nicklaus among others.
The course features plenty of water hazards that can make any golfer nervous, particularly on hole 4, where the hazard is on the front left end of the green, forcing players to lay up or go for the small green on the par 5 hole. The very next hole is a 188 yard par three on an island with a bunker protecting the front of the green which tests any player’s accuracy. Other than that, the majority of hole have wide fairways with some sand traps, but makes for an unforgettable and enjoyable golf experience!
